Although the economy is in the tank, I figure we need to carve out some money for a little vacation once in awhile. I’ve been doing some research into saving money while still having a nice trip. The major travel websites tend to all offer similar travel deals that can save money.
Basically, in addition to finding the best price for airfare, car rental and hotel, it is important that you to use a travel website that has a reputation for providing a trouble-free vacation. Then I was thinking about where to go where it’s easy to find good prices on air travel or where I can drive my car. One obvious choice is Southern California.
One website I found with some great information on Southern California is the SoCal Vacation Guru site. It focuses mainly on Orange County and Los Angeles County, but will eventually expand to provide more information on San Diego County and the Inland Empire desert and mountain areas as well. There is very useful information at the SoCal Vacation Guru on Universal Studios, Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, beaches, shopping dining, hotels and other facets of your vacation.
I mentioned above just a couple of the seven major theme parks in Southern California, the complete list being Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure, Knott’s, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and Legoland. If you love theme parks, it would be tempting to try and fit all seven into a very busy, and perhaps relatively expensive, vacation trip. If your budget allows in this slow economy, you can probably find some great hotel deals, with many hotel operators and other vacation businesses really looking for your patronage.
You might also get better deals now for tickets to theme parks, museums and other activities. Rather than flying to your vacation destination, you may find that, even with the crazy behavior of gasoline prices recently, you can save money by driving to Southern California this year.
